That hasn't been explained yet. Has something to do with the wolves.

It was a really good first episode, though. I thought the choice of telling the two time lines with one in B&W was great.

There really wasn't anything I didn't like about the episode. Not quite as good as the first episode of season 5 but right up there.

Quarry of Death they called it? I liked the B&W also. Reminds me of the comics. But no not what I expected for the season opener. But still a welcome change because last season was all happy happy with little cliffhanging.

I hadn't done any catching up since the end of last season, so I didn't have a perfect recollection of how it (the last episode) ended...at first I found it kind of confusing, in fact I thought maybe I recorded at the wrong time, but once I realized the two timeline thing, I got it...and I also enjoyed it a lot...total opposite of FTWD for me.

Fantastic episode, great start!
While the comic readers know what is going to happen next it is a great ride getting there with some of the characters still wild cards as they are not in the books or had passed on long before.

I about gave up on WD last year. It took me forever to watch the final episode. Glad I did because I was hooked again. I am on board with everybody else and thought the B&W was perfect and then Nicotero explained why they did a flashback episode it made perfect sense.
My only complaint is why not find a way to kill the walkers in the gravel pit? Yes the way it happened made for an exciting show but surely there could have been some way to dispose of them when they are all trapped like that.

thx; but it wasn't that bad...I just paused the new episode about 4 minutes in (when they were in color and at the quarry), and quick went to Wikipedia and read the episode synopsis of the last episode...just to be sure I hadn't missed anything last spring...I hadn't; I guess I'm just getting too confused in my old age

They sort of covered themselves with that by telling the people of Alexandria that any type of construction or movement towards one area would allow the herd to overcome that section and essentially weaken the structure (trucks) that are currently holding them in place.

I knew not to open this thread until I got a chance to see it. Another great episode but I would have bet that it was Gabriel blowing the horn.

Do you guys watch "The Talking Dead" also?
Just look at the flowers
Kevin Smith made the same comment on the Talking Dead that at least Carol did not tell the kid to look at the flowers.
