Food?
Ok. Actually thinking about leaving the hotel this year.
Usually we eat the munchies we bring, and order pizza.
But might consider actually going someplace to eat this year.
So, are there any decent restaurants near the hotel?
I mean, like 10-15 minutes away, that aren't hard to find/

Re: Food?
I can't think of one specifically, but if you turn right out of the hotel and go about a mile you'll run into Preston Hwy and probably find any type of food that suits you. A bunch of us are going to the Hardrock Cafe downtown Saturday night if you guys want to come.

Across the street from the hotel is a bowling alley with a bar & grill inside; they make a decent cheeseburger and their prices aren't bad.

Re: Food?
I remember you talking about that before.
Though I am thinking something along the lines of real food.
Like, roast, meat loaf, baked chicken. You know. Regular meat and potatoes kind of stuff.

Re: Food?
Did I read a rumour somewhere that there is food included in the room price now (to justify the price hike) - maybe breakfast or something?
Re: Food?
Bardstown Road isn't far and there are a lot of good places to eat. Cumberland Brewery comes to mind.

Re: Food?
Trev, you turn right out of the parking lot and go down to that road with McDonalds and Taco Bell on the corners. Turn right and go down about a mile and there's a Bob Evans restaurant on the right. Reasonable prices, friendly staff and an atmosphere quiet enough for normal conversation.

Re: Food?
Thirded on Mark's Feed Store. Great food, but last time I was there I sat behind this couple with heathen children who had apparently never been in public before. I really had to work at keeping my temper in check, and frankly, it soured the experience to the point I'll probably skip it this year. Might try Spinelli's, that sounded good, though the wife and I usually stay downtown at Galt House.
Re: Food?
Major bummer. Well I made it there twice last year. The second trip was a beautiful evening sitting outdoors with great company, conversation, ribs, and all the trimmings. I'll definitely be back.northjason wrote:Great food, but last time I was there I sat behind this couple with heathen children who had apparently never been in public before.

Re: Food?
Trevor, I honestly cannot think of a straight up, stick to your ribs home-style food sort of affair. I've been to the Feed Store that many rave about, but I only had a few beers and deep fried pickles. I think the place is prided for it's BBQ if I'm not mistaken? Mayo's suggestion sounds as good as any, but I'm not familiar with a local owned down-home shanty. My Fiends and I normally go out for sushi when we can.
