Bad modeling habits.
Anyone have any odd/bad habits or quirks they'd like to share? I have a few but the worst one is I'm terrible at recording my work. Kits get finished then thrown on a shelf, boxed up or sold. I quite often forget the take pictures so I have no record of what I've done. Figure I would learn by now but Nope, still terrible at it .
Don't panic. OK, you can panic a little.

We would be happy to host your pics in the Gallery. What good are these forums if people didn't post their pics.
Re: Bad modeling habits.
I'm not sure if it's a bad habit or a poor life choice, but I use rattle spray cans for black, white and primer. I'm usually disappointed with the results, but being cheap and impatient keep me doing it. As an aside, it sure seems like rattle cans today are terribly inconsistent and generally have poor quality control.

Re: Bad modeling habits.
My worst modeling habit has to do with X-acto knives.
TWICE now -- I have managed to slice open the top of my index finger on my left hand,
between the first and second knuckle -- ALMOST in the same spot both times...!!! LOL
I tend to hold a resin part/model piece in my left hand, and with a brand new blade, start
to clean that part, usually working on a stubborn spot, and SLIP.....There be blood.
(First time stitches, second time...Homemade splint and bandage, although stitches were needed.)
But this is what comes from not heeding mom's warnings that children shouldn't
play with sharp things. Haha

I did the same thing, went in on the center knuckle and slid off my nail.

Re: Bad modeling habits.
Oh the knives. My first vinyl kit the blade hit the knuckle of my right index finger right down to the tendon. 10stiches there. Second was middle joint on same finger. Sliced corner off so clean a circle of skin was on the blade. Lots of blood lose on that one. A few other nicks and jabs over the years but those were the worst two. Luckily no permanent damage aside from scars.
Don't panic. OK, you can panic a little.

The knives for me too. I'll even tell myself beforehand "doing it this way will......." and do it anyway. Guess what happens next?

Re: Bad modeling habits.
My worst modeling habit is not finishing kits before starting on the next one. I currently do not even know how many i have going. I start on one and get an idea for another and round and round she goes.

I'm well known for a work bench that looks like the aftermath of an F5 tornado and using paint lids for temporary mixing pallets, glue holders and assorted other tasks.
You know it's not a good day when it starts out with, "Hey boss, we've got a weird one for you."

I'm there too with the Xacto! The Horizon vinyl Bram Stoker's Dracula (armor). Trimming the midsection I sliced my left hand right at the inside joint of my index finger, probably more gore than in the film itself! I guarantee that there's still some of my blood inside that kit...it'll live forever.
My true worst habit is not always trying new techniques, That's why I love it here and going thru AFM. Both push me to expand.

Kit addiction. I keep buying kits and I will never have enough time to build them all.

There was an entire thread, with photos in some cases, about xacto damage

Re: Bad modeling habits.
Mine is impatience.
I'll clean a kit up, prime it, and then see a few more lil problems. I fix those and then prime again.
Then I may see one or two more but convince myself that they won't be seen.
3/4 of the way thru the paint job, it becomes evident that "Yes they are VERY visible!"
Now I'm messing with filing and sanding with most of the kit already painted.
