Fantastic . . . but that's no surprise! That eye is really cool . . . any comment on that? What did you use? (Not that I am looking to hijack your techniques . . . no, no . . . perish the thought!)

Drove to the post Office today, paid Customs Duties and picked up the parcel containing "Judith" at last.
I didn´t open it until after getting home and feeding 7 month old little Ravn.
Steve´s paintwork is even better than the photo´s, with richer tones, slightly darker and more colourful on the lower body.
The man has my admiration and gratitude.
Despite Steve´s careful packing, the join between neck and body were broken and patches of filler and paint pulverised to irreparably small fragments.
Head and body can be re-glued together and the gaps re-filled. But matching Steve´s paintwork to diguise the join is going to be a daunting challenge.
I´m so gutted I haven´t looked at the model again yet, let alone taken photos.
Seeing now that the parcel had been opened and re-sealed by Customs/ Post Danmark and what looks like a boot-hole in one corner, I can feel my shirt ripping off my back and see my skin going green...!

Once again, Steve, YOU have my gratitude and admiration. Hope I can do you justice when making the repairs.

Spike,

I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck with Judith. Unfortunately, it seems to be an increasingly common occurance. I'm sure that you will be able to masterfully repair it, though.

I am so sorry Spike. I know being an expert modeler you'll fix it up but I hate the fact that you have to. damn.

Great talking to you tonight, it was something we should've done a long time ago and I really enjoyed it!

Oh, what a bummer, Spike. Bet that hurt!
Well, I'm also sure you'll get it together in a whiffy!

Thanks for calling, Steve! You can talk the talk and walk the walk. We´ll get along fine, you and me.

What hurts is the gratifying circumstances behind this beauty ending up with me, of all people, being countered by what looks like some jerk just kicking the package because he hates his job!
The packaging and Judith have to be surrendered to Post Danmark today to make a claim, with no guarantee of return.
I´ll take this one on the chin and keep my baby where she belongs.

On the bright side, we finally had a chat (not at my most social between 02.300 and 03.30 am) and I get to improve my painting skills. Painting to match someone else´s style, instead of your own style, has got to be an education.

All the best, Spike.

Staffan, I have got to be the worst modeller at this forum!
Small parts get dropped and instantly become invisible (stolen by spiderwickian Boggarts?), glue gets spilled where it´s least wanted, brushes get dipped in the wrong paint, brush handles seek my eyeball, kits are assembled to ensure more than the required amount of those impossible to reach places, plants on landscapes either crumble or infest them, resin water cracks and splits, my matt varnish dries glossy.... Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
But I´m not going to let such trifles stop me.
Wouldn´t it be great to turn up at a WonderFest one day, clutching a lump of resin and paint to be proud of.

I kind of doubt that! I should post a picture of my recent work to prove it. :D

Seriously, too bad about Judith. There's just no excuse for that! Glad no one stepped on the package you sent me! :-)

Well then Spike, there's no excuse. Pack your things and get on a train to Stockholm and I'll fix it for you. :P
It's IPMS Open in Stockholm this weekend, so I expect you there with the dino then..?

Thanks. Staffan, but no can do.
East Jutland Open is this weekend, too. They invited me to do a special exhibition of models without roundels, swastikas, machine guns, swords, shields, firearms etc.
All I´ve got is Dinosaurs, hope that goes down ok...

I AM looking forward to seeing images of the Swedish IPMS championships, hoping to see my favourite 2 of your works.

No Way! I guess the Danes will be out this weekend then. Well I got Atle and the other Norwegians to entertain me anyway.

I have found heartening to see the fraternal banter between the Scandanavian element of our little paleo-brotherhood. I'd still love to put one on with BOTH you guys at The 'Fest onna deese days.

At the risk of going off topic, as you guys are attending IPMS events this weekend, tell me-

Are Scandanavian IPMS'ers as big of milliataria-minutia-obsessed anal dorks as they are here in the USA?

For example, do they fuss and lather about a "wrong" color shade on an ME-109, or a misplaced rivet on a Panzer III, while ignoring the other models that aren't representative of wars fought in years past?

Finished whinging, started repairs.
Made the throat fit pretty tight on this side, just a chip of filler and paint missing on the nape.
Image

Best fit on the other side leaves a deep gap a few millimetres wide from neck to the bottom of the throat.
Some chunks of filler and paint flaked off. None of the missing bits were in the package.
Image
Tacked with superglue, followed up with lashings of Araldite. That´ll hold it.
In a couple of days I´ll lay on some Wonderputty.
Monday I´m off to the library to borrow a "Painting the Steve Riojas way." dvd.

Spike.

God that's painful! I'm sorry Spike.
