THE LOVER from Resin Crypt sculpted by Chuck Needham

#1 Post by Stewart Jackson »

For everyone's Halloween enjoyment here is the beautifully sculpted and designed kit by Chuck Needham released by my late friend Vin Bordogna. It's such a lovely tribute to Ingrid and was a joy to paint. I did the gown all by hand and removed the resin cuffs and replaced them with 5/8" pieces of black lace. I did alter the hair a bit to show off more of her face and added scale leaves to obtain that Hammer autumn look. I love the way Chuck incorporated the headstones thematically. Mircalla's is much older and decayed and is a design used in the graveyard in the film. Laura, who was Mircalla's victim, i gave just some weathering and Emma's broken stone (with no death date inscription), symbolizing the breaking of the curse. Here's to Ingrid and Vin.

Based on previous pictures I’ve seen of this kit, even when it was brand new, I never really liked it. I didn’t think the likeness was there. But this build gives me a whole new perspective! It really does look like her! You did a really nice job on the gown! I love being able to see the goodies underneath! Two thumbs up!

That is stunning work Stuart! You are the Hammer master, I remember you had the honour of meeting Ingrid Pitt, so you certainly know your subject.
You've really brought this kit to life, subtle and effective paint details throughout. Beautiful skin tones, the mole on her cheek,
her eye make up, trademark red necklace, the translucent gown is awesome and the weathering on the grave stones sensitively handled.
An outstanding tribute to an iconic Hammer queen, Vin would certainly have been proud :D

I was watching an interesting tribute documentary on the lovely lady on YouTube recently and had no idea she survived and escaped the
Nazi Holocaust as a young girl before becoming an actress

I've not had time to finish my Brinke build, your superb treatment of the gown and headstones here is the inspiration I needed to pull my
finger out and get her done, many thanks!

All the best,
Paul

Beautiful work all the way round.

Many thanks to all for your kind comments. Working on it really was a joy. As Paul had mentioned in his comments, I had the pleasure of meeting Ingrid a number of times at various shows (Fanex, Chiller and Monster Mania) and came to really admire her great humor and love of life despite the horrors of her youth in a concentration camp (F Nazis for the horrors they unleashed and F the nutters that admire and emulate them today). Read her autobiography (Life is a Scream), her stories of what she witnessed are sobering. She was so much more than just an extraordinarily pretty face!

I have no effin' idea how you folks achieve such a realistic translucent effect - but damn is that impressive.

The whole thing is VERY well done Stewart - take a bow bud!
