If this is the show that was in Australia, Kong is a giant type of animatronic and marionette I don't know about the play but Kong was an impressive piece of stagecraft. If I remember correctly wasn't there a live stage/dance show that preceded the film when it originally opened at Grauman's Chinese Theater.
