Frankenstein's Creature 1931 Bust ala Basil Gogos

#1 Post by dewberry1964 »

Finally got around to working on this one, it's been in the stash forever it seems like. I tried to imitate the "famous Monsters of Filmland" covers by Basil Gogos. I learned a lot doing the large scale Nosferatu bust last time, tried some of the same singing techniques. Its acrylics for a messy undercoat with oil paint on top. I'm sure there is an easier way, but this was mine. Overall a quick build, started it yesterday. I there are a few small touchups to clean up, but overall I'm pleased.

If you were trying to give it a painterly look, I'd say you succeeded. Wonderful job.
