Darn, I'm so jealous of all your work space. I've always made the best out of my limited space, a one car garage, shared half and more with my wood working toolery All I do is juggle all of the time, I love to multi-task, and hate saying no to any and all projects and challenges. I'm pretty ashamed of my limited work space, and at my age and directions, I know I'll never be able to afford or have the abundance of space, that any of you have. Always redesigning it to gain another few inches of air space ... Here's some pictures of my cluttered space ...

That's a great studio! You can also find some cool benches and stuff in yardsales. I used a door to make a bench, and it's been working just fine as well!

Recently I was starting to feel a little hemmed in by my airbrush booth, which is one of those little fold-up units. It was always great about actually keeping the air clean, but the pre-installed hood on it was definitely made for smaller subjects. So I tore it off, headed down to Michaels and picked up a bunch of foam-board and some packing tape. I rigged up this guy over the last two nights. Even added in skylights on the top so I can get some diffuse light inside. It should be able to handle almost any project I toss at it now. You can see the original air unit in the middle, surrounded by it's new XXL hood.

Very nice. I did something similar with my AB Booth. And now it's much more useful.

I took a pic of my little area. I had to move up into the attic a few years ago and once I had a table and chair I settled for what I had. In the past few months I tinkered around make it nicer and clear off my work table (an old door).

I still want to put up more shelves to get my boxes and bottles and jars off the table and floor, reference books all in one spot and the tiny kit boxes all in one spot (I'll start a little kit while I'm waiting for my larger kit to dry etc...)
Here it is so far --

Image

Off to the right more is a little setup for taking pics and the up the wall is stacked with boxes from my "To Do" pile. Off to the left is a little closet with even more kits from my stash and then there's a few book case shelves where some of my finished models are and so books.

Thanks for looking.

Yes it is.
I am so jealous of all of you.
My work space is where ever I happen to set up in the house at that time.

At least I've never actually had a work area, so I don't really know what I am missing.

When my wife divorced me, I bought a mobile home. I transformed the master bedroom into my workroom. I now have a work space more than double what I had before. Thank you, sweety.

You guys should be able to find a little area. I live in a one bedroom condo, and I just picked the least used corner of the room and turned that into my work space. The pic I posted earlier in this thread is that corner, but turn right around there and you see the TV and couch and into the kitchen. Not ideal obviously, I'd love to have a separate room for the hobby, but we gotta deal with the hand we were dealt.

Egads!! I'm amazed that some of you actually take up an entire room for this hobby. I don't have room for that. I've been building these kits since the late 1990's, and have somehow managed to keep my work area confined to a very small nook. I have an old, fold open, teakwood, Chinese desk that I've been using for many years now. Anyway, I like my work area small, nice and neat…very orderly. I cannot work in a chaotic environment.
