This was all Ian’s genius & artistry on the colour choices and techniques & stuff – he always makes good choices (except the incident with that busty Bertha lass in Bridlington – oh the horror! )

Wait until you see the rest of what we hope to add :D

Inspired by the sculpt, I've really enjoyed letting my imagination go wild with the concept idea for the diorama - generated a back-story and all - knowing that there's nothing Ian can't accomplish modelling wise (well - he's not that good at the catwalk stuff - but that aside . . . )

All depends on what time he is able to spend on this project - the man is more in demand than Angelina Jolie & Pamela Anderson in a wet T-shirt competition.

Well a minor thing to show rather than an update proper, been having a play about with the DecalPro FX DIY rub down transfer system and it worketh a good 'un.
Something as requested by our Brother Spike and there's a smidgen of cleaning up to do but...
A bit of decoration to the back of the jacket:

Hell yeah!

A little taste of home (from home).

Hard to believe that - the way this is going - this will be the standout piece of my entire collection.

Not hard to believe because of the sculptor, caster or builder . . .

Good stuff always bears repeating . . . so where’s that “Oh My God!” icon when you need it?

You. Sir. Are a genius.

Thanks for really brightening up my day again Ian. THIS reminds me why I got interested, and why I stay interested in this hobby.

Everything you touch just exudes quality, artistry and skill. Amazing stuff Ian – really – just bloody brilliant!

Thank you =D> :jam:  :thumb2:

(* and I'll also repeat - you folks need to hit the hyperlinks Ian provides - SO much more detail and eye-candy . . . it's like "Lord of the Rings" condensed into bite-sized portions :) *)

I thank ya people! :D

Mushroom, I don't think there is a small or tester kit as such for the decals i'm afraid.
Best you can do is go look at the site for the original outfit, they are based in the USA.

http://www.pulsarprofx.com/decalpro/ver ... rview.html

If you have none of the required equipment: colour laser printer, laminator, hot air gun etc then the first outlay is pretty expensive.
Along the lines of about £350 to £400 expensive.
Have to say on testing, it can do the job for certain and the learning curve is not too bad. Best on flatish surfaces and takes a try or two to get it going just the way you want it.
The top half of this page on my site should give you a better idea.
It's the second page on the next 1/350th Starship Enterprise Refit that this decal kit was specifically bought in for but is going to prove itself very useful to me in the future.

http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/wipenterprise2.html

Hope the info helps a bit.

Raydrz, cheers mate!
As for doing another one, i'm afraid that barring cancellations, your're going to have to wait untill about the start of 2015 'fore I can take on anything new. Seriously packed out on the worklists and some fool decided there should only be 24hrs in a day, could do with 36 plus meself but that's just me
If however you want in on one then PM me and we'll yak about it.

Well the silliness goes on, super sculpey sodding about, baking balderdash and a squirt of grey primer gets the basis for the top of the forks. Handlbars to be added and cleaning up 'fore it goes under rubber to get a resin cast.

Image

Good enough for a starter methinks so onward and more Hellhole happenings at a later date...honest!
Go easy out there all :D

Well certifiable maybe Brother Spike.
But then I do have a piece of paper that says i'm sane...it may be signed in crayon but they wouldn't let me have anything sharp in there

Right then, update time!!

See - this is what happens when you put a purfeshunal on the job.

The attention to detail on this is phenomenal - but hardly surprising given Ian's past exploits in the modelling world (you HAVE to do those DVD's mate!)

Here's how my version would likely have turned out - very "heavy metal" but missing a few of Ian's refinements.

BTW who else has noticed the acronym for Ian's studio matches that of a certain George Lucas thingy? 8) :)

Another amazing update (read the linked webpage guys) from the ever-talented Mr. Lawrence =D> :jam:

Sir – I bow in your general direction (which is to my right given the way I’m currently sitting)

Surprised there have been 50 reads of the thread since the update but only lil' ol' me posting :-k . Guess you are all overawed with the eye-candy (or you've all turned uncharacteristically shy!)

We had discussed a scribed balsawood section for the wall, but typical Ian (him not me) – he wants to do it right. If he (him not me) thinks he’s just getting paid per his original quote he has another think coming!

Off to go drool some more (me not him).
