??
Thought I had replied to this thread...

Anyway, I think this is turning out amazingly! I've always had Keith Strasser's Dimetrodon at the top of my wanted list, but this one clearly rivals his sculpt. It's very "alive" and steps away from the traditional view of a slow crawler...
The Komodo Dragon references works perfectly IMO.

Luv it, need it!

Oh yeah, updates...
Here's a few quick shots of it currently. The sail casting will be arriving soon- I'll have more complete photos this Sunday. It goes without saying this has been a very time consuming project, but I don't mind because it will be worth it. ;)

Oh and stix- to answer your comment about the skin textures- there's no real secret method. I have a few lizard castings and I'm simply sculpting the scales and folds as closely to reality as I can mostly using x-acto blades. I want this to look like a real living thing from every angle.

I promised more photos on Sunday (it's still Sunday to me right now). Well I need to get some sleep, but for now you can check out the new Dimetrodon pics on my Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Creative- ... 7525333128

I'll do an official update here on the forum (as well as my website) very soon. :)

Man, that thing looks so damn good. I may have to get one of these at Wonderfest.
I love the pose and the scale detail.
What's the going rate on this kit?

It's not official, but I'm estimating the price at around $185. Once I have a final price figured out, I'll post it here.

And I know some of you have already looked at the pics on my FB page, I also wanted to post a few of the pics here anyway for an official update, so here you go:

These will be the final pics of the sculpt- I'm just finishing up some superficial details at this point and it's out to my moldmaker Chris Lynch at Ravenstar Studios for the castings. This kit will have a translucent amber sail and there will be two versions- open mouth and closed mouth. I have yet to do the open mouth, but the last pic there gives you an idea of what that will look like. the base still needs work, but compared to the figure shouldn't take long to do. Also- the base will be hollow cast to reduce weight and expense of materials.
I am very excited to finish this one- professional or personal, it is in my opinion - my best sculpt to date. :D

Hands down, it's fantastic! The texturing it mindblowing, the pose is vibrant and it really is a living breathing beast! Most impressive. Saving up right now! ;)
