Re: Kitbash:Xenomorphus Rex, rework 2023-08-29
Either figure would work very nicely! Sauron and The Predator both appeal to a wide audience! Given the makeup of the hobby modeling community however, at least as demonstrated by weirdos like Spike , more votes might be swayed your way with a "Predator antagonist".
So that is my recommendation to you.
(No offense meant, Spike )

Re: Kitbash:Xenomorphus Rex, rework 2023-08-29
Added some ridges underneath the neck for visual interest
Added wing webbing on top of arms between shoulder and wrist
Widened the chest just a bit
Put a coat of primer on to see how it looks all tied together
Still have some more sanding, refining and detailing to do

Looking very nice - agree the neck ridges enhance the "visual interest" and blend nicely with ridges on the body!

Spent quite some time sanding down and thinning out the wings.
I must of sanded off a good half pound of milliput so far.
Still have some spots to smooth out and fill in, and detailing to do.
Still not sure about paint scheme.
I am leaning towards a brown scheme which tends to result in more realistic look than green or red schemes.

Oooooohhh!!! I has (almost) forgotten about this one - so many bashes, such multi-tasking! He looks absolutely AWESOME now - does he stand on his own or will there be a pin in one of the soles of his feet?

Re: Kitbash:Xenomorphus Rex, updated 2023-11-05
Thanks B-A.
He is not not balanced and does not stand on his own.
I have some ideas for the base which may not require him to be completely balanced.
Continuing to sand wings. They are much smoother and thinner now. Almost done with sanding.
Roughed in wing fingers on back of wings for some visual interest. Still need to refine and detail these.

Building the footrest on the base with the right incline forward would fix that problem.

Yup, exactly, I am considering have the right leg angled more forward on top of ruined castle tower.
I have several ruined castle towers from my Draco dragon heart kits.

As my dad used to say times like this "great minds think alike"! However if it's going to be on top of the castle, I would definitely suggest a pin.

Re: Kitbash:Xenomorphus Rex, updated 2023-11-06
Working on refining and blending the back of wing fingers
Modified and narrowed the portion of the wings close in to the body by cutting off the inner wing points.
This makes the wings look longer, and gives a bit better view of the body from the side views,

Re: Kitbash:Xenomorphus Rex, update 2024-01-22
After roughing in the right extra wing segment, I realized I did not flair the end of the segment out far enough.
So I cut the wing edge off and luckily I could bend the inner wire enough to flair the end out more.
Now filling in the gap and giving it more arch as well.
