Model Club TV
Thought I would mention this. Some of you might have seen their first video during the Want-A-Fest event. But they are still cranking out videos. About once a week or so.
Also available as a podcast for those that are into that.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJKne5 ... yv5qIfD-xg
If anyone is interested in watching/listening to some model guys sitting around talking about models, you need to check it out. Last week they had Terry Webb on, this week was a bit of an origin story where they talked about how Scott and Jason got into the hobby. Which I think a lot of people here can really related to some of the things they discuss.
This isn't a real hi-tech, slick production kind of thing. It's just modelers shooting the breeze. Much like all of us have done at shows.

You are welcome.
So, far, this has been my 'fix' for the lack of WF socialization this year.

Re: Model Club TV
I watched most of them starting with 1 through 4.
The one with terry webb was something I'm dealing with my moms collection of things
Auction houses are not doing to well.. it's all willed to me being a only child.
Makes me sad John T didn't think ahead.
And hobby is aging out as Terry, said which I have been seeing for quite awhile now

Re: Model Club TV
.
It was an interesting listen, and I enjoyed seeing the faces of folks I don’t really know. I know Scott best - from his Clubhouse activity. I know Jason is still a member here (Nerv31), but can’t remember much interaction with him.
Scott made me feel SO much better regarding the number of kits I have, and how many of them are unbuilt
Jason seemed to be more of a natural at this, with Scott taking a while to relax (not a criticism – I TOTALLY wouldn’t be comfortable doing this myself!) Once he DID relax, it was amazing to see how laid back & pleasant he can be compared to the posts we would occasionally get from him on The Clubhouse
- Scott’s admission & observations at the 12:50 mark made me laugh – good for you Scott!
I agreed with pretty much everything all 3 said . . . in fact . . . I can’t think of a thing I didn’t agree with – except Terry’s open-mouthed gum chewing (he must be a relative of Richie Faulkner from Judas Priest) - but scrolling down the screen a bit solved that
I listened to the extra background regarding John Tucky’s “estate” scenario with sadness, ditto regarding Scott’s health challenges. I know Scott’s not around here these days, so if someone gets the chance, please say hi for me – and I really wish the dude well. Totally one of those fellas I’d love to have a few beers with.
Same goes for Jason. He has that “metalhead” vibe to him – not sure if that’s the case – but again – he seems easy-going, easy to listen to, and obviously has a wealth of knowledge.
I’ll watch the other videos when I have another opportunity, and REALLY hope Jason & Scott keep this going. A great start to something that should entertain anyone who cares about this hobby & community.
Thanks for the link Trev - appreciate it Bro'

Re: Model Club TV
Yeah, Scott is a good guy 'in person'. Doesn't come across well in type.
It helps that he has finally chilled out and decided to just let things go, and not be in the center of the storm anymore.
Life is way to short for all the drama this hobby can attract.
But you tend to have that when you have a bunch of creative types all together.
I was hoping there would be another episode this weekend, but so far none to be seen.

Re: Model Club TV
.
Just watched episode 4 end-to-end.
While I appreciate Jason AND Scott's humility and self-deprecation - I hope they realise that this is NOT boring.
I think Trev summed it up nicely in his initial post . . .
Nice guys, talking about interesting stuff, with no attitude (he'll get a laugh out of THAT too
. . . but I'm being sincere).
I'll check in on the channel every so often to see what's been updated (assuming I don't see a "heads-up" post here), and plan to go back and check out the earlier uploads - it'll be nice to see what Steve Riojas has to say for himself on those too (that guy is one of my fave painters - no question).
Thanks again for the link Trev.
Ian/Spike.
PS: Since this IS "general hobby stuff" - could we not move it from THE MONKEY BARS to THE GARAGE where more folks might see it?

Re: Model Club TV
Hello everyone! Thank you for your support, it really does mean a lot to us.
Trevor, I have a surprise for you, new episode just went up. We are going to be aiming for the first Monday of the month and a middle Monday of the month for new episodes (for technical reasons).
Check out our interview with modeler extraordinaire Neal DeConte. We learn Scott needs to watch some movies, Neal is nuts and alginate is your friend. We have quick review of the Criterion War of the Worlds and some other news items. https://youtu.be/znKwVeOlfAs

Re: Model Club TV
Oh, man, this was another winner.
I saw the length, and thought, man, that's long. But the time flew by.
And the depths of the work was amazing!
And the bustin-chops part brought a big smile to my face.
That part about Anthony and the boat was classic

Finally got to watch the latest episode (5) AND episode 1 (with Steve).
Not a dodgy episode yet - WONDERFUL to have members of the community that are SO good at this  they are PERFECTLY suited to this medium.
Besides their knowledge, and the "easy-going / no attitude" approach I mentioned before, the humour is what is SORELY needed nowadays, and what REALLY makes these a joy to watch. They are obviously true friends, and are totally relaxed with one-another, and the subjects they cover.
I'll post some more thoughts later but am now a bit behind on a BRD that's due Monday morning thanks to losing 3 hours today
PS: Thanks for the post Jason - I know you haven't been a regular poster here, but I wish you were. Also wish the "new Scott" was with us too
.
Re: Model Club TV
Thank you so much SPike!
I am truly humbled by your words and I can tell you when I read it to Scott, he was also. We are gonna keep doing these and keep upgrading skills and equipment as we go...we are both learning as we drive this thing. My hope is when it is just a Scott and I episode, people aren't majorly disappointed
As for the Clubhouse and posting here, I just kind of fell away due to Facebook, work, articles for AFM and other commitments. I also tend to want to argue and quite often have an opinion opposite of most people and it's hard for me to shut up....so I just stopped.
I am going to do my best to be a little more involved here. I am also doing my best to rehabilitate Scott into "NEW" Scott and it is some heavy lifting and my back sucks.

Well-deserved praise - to all involved so far - but especially to yourself & Scott as the ongoing core, brains & drivers.Nerv31 wrote:Thank you so much SPike!

There are plenty of people who have something in common with you regarding reduced Clubhouse activity - and ditto on the "hard for me to shut up" part
RE: "NEW Scott" & heavy-lifting - well - he DID admit he ate the old one!
Please keep up the great work both!

Re: Model Club TV
Just got through them all and really looking forward to more. You can see the shows becoming more "polished" as you move along.
Absolutely loved the Neal DeConte episode. The details are insane and inspiring all at the same time. Facts like the Evil Dead 2 wood as the floor boards and his custom work are beyond cool.
Only two minor "nit picks": Pictures sometimes don't stay up long enough to get a really good look. Sure I can pause it but I'm a lazy, lazy man. Having to wait for another episode.
Awesome work Jason and Scott. Thank you for taking the time to do this for the community and I really look forward to future episodes and to meeting you two at Wonderfest (one of these years
).
And who knew (besides the people who know him) Scott was so funny?
