#1 Post by bucketfoot-al »

Well - HEY! Where'd that BIG box come from, so neatly wrapped, almost like it's coming from some place that's all OCD-like (sorta like ... I am :mrgreen2: ) ...

... WAIT - Is that JAPANESE script I see??!?!! :shocked2:

Quick - Let's OPEN it!!!

Image

WTH is THIS? Karloff as "The Mummy?" Or Claude Rains as "The Invisible Man?" :-k

WAIT - Its KONG! 'Kingy-Kongy' RAGING NO LESS!!! The 1962 version! Look at that crisp detail! A 2004 Murakami, resin Kong no less! And a pretty nice build up too! :thud

So - I can hear ya all the way from here ... "Well, OK - that's sorta "Grail-y, but - really? THAT is why you made us stop to look? Is that ALL that is there?" :-k

Image

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! BEHOLD :hot:

(MY) "Grail of Grails" - a 2004 MINTY SHINZEN-SCULPTED RAGING KINGOJI!!!!!

And - GUESS WHAT? They SCALE PERFECTLY, just as I had hoped!!!!! =D> =D> =D> God Bless America!!! :usa: I-I-I mean ... NIPPON - BANZAI! BANZAI!! BANZAI!!! :drool2: :drool2: :drool2:

Image

OK. Now that I have "delivered" , let's see what else is in there .... oh - a Kaiyodo Softmodel Rhamphorynchus Pterosaur - very nice - and - well hey! There's the Furuta Alien from "Earth Vs The Flying Saucers" ... I wonder if there might be a ... Harryhausen SAUCER-DIO in the works? :mrgreen2:

And ... in that yellowed box ... a Pre-painted Kaiyodo Dinotales Araki Triceratops? I know, "its an UGLY prepaint you say ... whaddaya buy that for - you already bashed two of them in the past"

Why - EXACTLY!!!! In that critter right there, in its body and limbs and head - there are materials for THREE separate Triceratops/Torosaursus Kitbashes of the future!!! :mrgreen2: :reddance:

Image

Well - HEY! 'Trevor's Hidden Shelf' under the workbench is getting crowded with projects to come! (Won't that Retirement HURRY THE HECK UP?!?!?!?! :drool2: )

Thanks Joe! I mainly got this one for the front legs, as I need those to combine with the Sega Trike body, and resculpt the head into a Torosaurus. My favorite previous dinobash was this exact combination, but I sold it off in 2008 with all my other early big bashes. πŸ˜€

I now have so many of these Kong and Godzilla 62 dioramas in the works. This new one will have the finest figures! ⚑πŸ’₯🌟

Seriously, retirement needs to hurry the heck up, because I'm getting tired of reaching and doing threads like this one, instead of having actual modeling content to share! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

The Earth versus the Flying Saucers dio is going to be cute. The alien is going to be standing on the base, with two of the saucers, in different sizes, flying above at odd angles, giving a forced perspective view.

Not exactly original, a fella on Facebook did something similar and as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to do it as well.

Great minds. I have two Skyhook's saucers and several Furuta Earth vs. aliens along with a large one and have been planning just such diorama myself. I just have to get rid of these hand overuse injuries that I've acquired so I can crack on. We all have our frustrations!

Keep cracking Squiddy!! ⚑πŸ”₯πŸ’₯

The missus and me watched a House Hunters International episode last night, it was about a Brit lady artist looking for a spread in Alice Spring to host her art painting tour groups. Wound up buying a 20 acre spread and I hope it has worked for her.

Bloody desolate and beautiful scenery out there! πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ€©πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

Another package from yahoo.jp, smaller this time. The "stragglers" from the recent "Japan Buying Spree" now trickle in.

Not "Grail kits" per se, but - reissues of two of Kaiyodo's EPIC 1990s Dinoland 1:18 vinyl dino-line. (I already had these - the Camarasaurus is built up, and the Steg is still in the box waiting - an earlier Steg build up was sold off in 2008).

These are done in grey vinyl (original was kind of cream colored). The earlier unbuilt versions usually go in the $200 range, but these were each under $100 and I could not resist! The dino-bashing WILL continue!!! :alcoholic: :mrgreen2:

*AHEM* Camarasaurus. And this one will get a major re-sculpt (I modified the first one I did quite a bit, but still not 100% happy with it .... :-k )

Probably $90-$120 or so. On top of exorbitant mailing costs (as always coming from Japan). But hey - it's probably my "Last Yahoo.jp Hurrah". After retirement I go on a budget, so the past 4 months or so I've "stocked up" on stuff I want to build and on "Diorama Helpers" ie trees, rocks, etc. :alcoholic:
