Godzilla Minus One kits?

#1 Post by Tiger2 »

Hi all,

Having seen the film which I thoroughly enjoyed, especially the new, mean and spiky design of the big G, I'm really keen to get a model of this version of the bad boy if possible.
The Aoshima plastic kit looks really nice and is a hot contender, but is quite small considering the epic scale of the subject.

The most promising larger scale kit I've found is this epic build I've just found on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icFG20KHLaY. Here's a screen grab of the box,
does anyone know who produces it? A similar pose to the Aoshima one, but much bigger!

Image

Probably well out of my budget, but I thought start with this and then downsize to the Aoshima version if the wallet demands it.

Any help or suggestions to my search gratefully received!
Cheers,
Paul

That is one IMPRESSIVE kit!!! To say nothing of the paint job! Try asking Copilot about it - you may be able to figure out who made it.

Go to the Bing search engine. On the right side of the Bing search toolbar you will see the co-pilot symbol. Copilot is the Bing search engine AI

It is super useful for figuring out all kinds of things, just don't ask it questions about controversial topics or current events, because it's just drawing data from what's out there, and there is a whole lot of misleading information on both types of topics on the internet.

But its great for figuring out what to do somewhere where you're going, great for finding factual things, and also great for historical questions, even basic medical questions.

But as its disclaimer says, copilot can be wrong. So, trust but verify. 🤔

It is also helpful to ask a question several different ways. Don't necessarily accept the first answer, especially if it doesn't give you the information you're looking for. In those cases asking the question over and over in different ways, and get it to do additional research in places that may not have looked at first. Look into it and then tell us how you did.. 😁

PS download the CoPilot app to your phone, because it's a heck of a lot easier dictating questions that typing them in on a laptop..

The Aoshima kit is beautifully engineered but, yes, small. Great for dioramas if you're into that. Also good if you're running out of space, like me.

Anyhow Paul, my digging shows this to be from Black Dragon Studios: "Kurokawa Kobo Godzilla 2023 Ginza Roar WF2025S Kit."

Vlad's suggestion of using AI is a good one. Alternatively, if you have a picture, as you do, try using one of the search engines' image searches. It will find other instances of images like it on the 'net. Then use page translate on any pages it finds if you need to.

Many thanks Steve for your efforts, I've now found pics of the kit on Facebook, you are correct it was produced by Black Dragon Models. A bit more digging to go to see if it's still available and at what price. Will keep you posted!

Now that bust looks tailor-made for doing a diorama where the Big G is chasing the fishing boat! 👀

Hi Folks,
I managed to chat with the very helpful Doc Mac over at Kaiju Kits and he knew al about the Black Dragon Studio model. He said it's unlikely to be still in production and
in his experience, anything being sold after their Wonderfest will be crazy prices. It's a heavy beast too, so shipping to the UK will be another killer.

Worth exploring though, but with all that in mind I've now pulled the trigger on the Aoshima kit that was going on UK evil bay for a very reasonable price.
If you check out Ken Sprigg's review of it on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB0YcN3D3f8) he's very impressed and maintains it will build into a superb, if not smaller scale replica.
My birthday is in April so that's going in the cupboard to add to the party!

Many thanks again one and all for your input,
All the best,
Paul

Oh that Aoshima kit looks fantastic, which is why I picked up one for myself last month.
I watched a couple of build videos, and the way the seams just disappeared sold me on it.

Yeah, it's kinda small, but I am also thinking about how it will save on shelf space once done.

Ditto to Trev. I don't do a lot of styrene any more unless it's hardware. But I was recently tempted back into it by X-Plus Rhedosaurus. I found its go-together pretty good. Having started on the Aoshima though it is well beyond that. The technology/engineering is as Paul reports, "superb."

Yeah, I was blown away when I watched the videos.
I loved the look of the kit, but didn't want to deal with styrene seams on a kaiju. When I watched them basically disappear, I knew I had to give it a go.
If for no other reason than to try that kind of assembly with an interior structure to mount everything to.
