Hannibal Lecter - Mike Hill sculpt

#1 Post by derekc62 »

Here's my Hannibal Lecter figure sculpted by Mike Hill and produced by Shapeshifters (P. McKenna is also credited on the piece so I think that person is responsible for the base.)

I suspect this was sold as a 1/6th scale resin figure, but it's on the smaller size of 1/6 so it could be more like 1/7th scale.

Painting the Death's Head moth was a challenge given the scale and the cover of the FBI file is an image I scaled down of the actual prop from the movie.

The piece appears to be signed by Mike Hill and it reads No. 1 - so possibly an artist's proof (??) or maybe it was just someone writing Hill's name on the bottom by way of attributing the kit to him (even though his name is etched on the small circular base along with P. McKenna and Shapeshifters.

Awesome work! Love the movies and currently reading the books. Almost to the end of Silence.

Thanks very much, guys.

And Tim, when you finish the book you'll likely realize why the script won the Oscar for Adapted Screenplay. The writer used the best parts of the book and then took the plot and story elements even further. I only read Silence and its sequel (never read Red Dragon) but without giving anything away I didn't care so much for the sequel.

I did notice a lot of lines lifted from the book. Manhunter is one of my favorite movies so I decided to give it a chance and really enjoyed the book. Red Dragon the movie was done well too but I am a bigger fan of William Peterson than Edward Norton.
I won't derail your thread any more but I will leave this here.

Am I the only one who thinks that there is a "Touch of Karloff's Likeness" in this sculpt - especially as seen from the overhead shots? :-k
