Spike - "Sonic", eh? How about "Spiny Norman"?

Joe - Loving the contrast between the colors of the spikes and the body. :thumb2:

THAT is looking AWESOME Joe!!! It really adds a LOT more visual "interest" :thumb2:

The blending of the color of the spikes with the "leg colors" is a masterful contrasting stroke!

His back did remind me of a question John Lennon once asked, though ...

Thanks !

2 legged Minotaur: added a few spikes to the arms and back of legs for more consistent design and colors across the whole bash

4 legged Minotaur:
- reworked the left front leg to put more of a bend in it and also lengthen it a bit
- started roughing in the vein details on arms
- added claws and started detailing hands

The 2-legged Minotaur looks 100% better with these tweaks - especially the arm spikes and the back spikes that look like they are bubbling up from some tar pit - IMPRESSIVE detailing!!! :thumb2:

The 2-leg is one mean looking SOB. A real nightmare. I especially like your treatment of the back spines. Did you use instinct or complimentary color theory for the 2-legged paint up? What colors are you thinking for the Minorog (can't help myself)? Anyhow, looking 21st century Harryhausen.

I'm conscious here of the skills both technical and artistic involved in getting all these disparate elements to make a cogent whole.

Thanks Squiddy !
Color scheme of 2 legged M was just based on tan/bone color spikes against green skin color that I used for my recent Medusa bashes.
The “ Minorog” ( I really like your name call on that!) will have redish brown body colors and basic flesh colors on torso.

My goal for this bash was to be very “Harryhausen-ish”, so I am very happy that you and Vlad have picked up on that vibe.

Mr.Harryhausen’s daughter will be at Wonderfest this June so I hope that she will see and appreciate this humble tribute to her fathers work !

Yes, a proven color scheme (with colors that happen to be complimentary). I look forward to seeing how it all develops, as always. Thanks Joe.

Enjoy meeting Vanessa. If she is anything like her dad she'll be a delight. It was the biggest thrill of my life to meet Ray when he came to Oz 25 years ago. I credit him in being instrumental in saving my childhood, but that's another story. I was completely starstruck but he as so kind. I lined up 3 times to get things signed. We chatted as I held one of the saucers from 'Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers'. A common story I'm sure but very special to me. I'm so glad that in the years that followed he got a lot more of the recognition he deserved.

Working on 4 legged Minotaur details
Refined the veins on arms
Refined the hands (I am pretty happy with how gnarly they look)
Added triceps to back of arms
Refined shoulders
Roughed in the tail , going to make it a bit thicker, still lots of detailing left to do
My wife says the tail is too long ….your thoughts ??

She's right. (Didya really expect a different answer? The wife is ALWAYS right! :mrgreen2: )

... anyhow ... the tail as it is detracts from the presentation of the critter. I might just "clip it" down to a stub ... or do a shorter horse - type tail ... :-k

Personally - I'd just have it as a regular horses tail (but that's me).

Other than that - looks great!

Thanks for the very quick feedback guys.

I prefer the tail to be more like a bulls tail rather than a horse tail as I think that style goes better with the balrog head.

I know , I know, your thinking “then why did you ask for our opinion” ….

We shall see how it looks after I make it thicker and put first base coat of paint on the body

Bulls tail or not, it could use with a little "shortening" either way ...

Definitely looks much better with the bulldog's tail which to me suggests something pugnacious, which might be an understatement for your Minorog. Getting analytical, it doesn't need a tail for balance, display or swiping at annoying insects as horses do. And a long tail just provides an enemy with something else to hold onto and damage.

Hey Scuzz, to answer your question, I actually took a 4ft dragon to Wonderfest last year and it easily fit on the table

Ian, Steve , Vlad,
I sincerely appreciate and respect your frequent helpful feedback, but in this case I am sticking with the tail versus pug design.
I just have it in my head that this creature is part bull, so it I think it needs a tail (but I did shorten the tail)
Also, who would be foolish enough to try and dock this guys tail to make him a pug ? 😜

Making some repairs to the base as the orginal base that I used was made of very cheap foam and breaks up and dents too easily.

Started blocking in the colors on the 4 legged Minotaur
