Metroid Samus Aran Zero Suit 3d print.

#1 Post by ILModels »

Finished off this lass a short while ago between other stuff, easy enough build from the parts so that was a time saver.
Just for me as a bit of fun and a getaway from the hardware hoo-ha :)
She came out 17" or 432mm tall on her base.

Very beautifully done! I don't have familiarity with the character, but she's quite the stunner of a space gal! That must have been really tough to work on

Thanks for the kind words all, very much appreciated :D
I was very happy with how she turned out but having an excellent canvas to start with always helps, much kudos to the digital sculptor on that score.

Stewart, when you're right, you're right on

Gorgeous paint work. You definitely have this paint thing down. ;)

Absolutely flawless; I don't see a print line anyway!

I like how fabric pulls in places, just like real clothing would. The face is perfect.

Excellent job!

Thanks. I think i'm starting to get the hang of this painting lark it would appear, or maybe it's just luck....which is the most likely explanation. But either works :D

That seems to be the beauty of resin printers, my old filmanet one would have just sat there in a sulk i'f I'd tried it with this one
The fabric effect was one of the main things that drew me to this when I first saw the mesh, brilliant digital sculpt and way beyond me!
I thank you!

Thanks. Went through a few things but in the end it was Humbrol polished steel enamel that after a good buffing up, got hit with some drybrushed Vallejo silver all over. Turned out just a nice, subtle patchy overall finish which helped the effect no end. Didn't plan it, just worked out that way.

Between your You Tube video and your reply to me I take it you purchased the digital sculpt from CG Trader, printed the various parts yourself, and produced this finished product.

Can you provide more info as to the printer you used? Also, do you have to have a background as a digital sculptor to download the designs from this site?

I am very intrigued with this process and any further info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

You take it correctly on all counts Rich. Link below to the page for the mesh:

https://www.cgtrader.com/products/samus ... t-3d-model

The I have printer is a Form 3 resin SLA printer.

No digital scuplting background required that i'm aware of, it's a pay for the mesh you want then download, print as and when etc.
Thing to look out for is that it has been made with 3D printing in mind, a lot of meshes look good but are far from ideal in that regard.
As a general rule of thumb, the more polygons the better.
There are other sites to get stuff from for free like Thingiverse for example but it depends on what you're after.

If there's anything else you wish to know, i'll do my best to answer :)
