For those who don't know. The sculpt is based on the publicity shot below...

On a side note, the pre order will be closed at the end of January.

Yeah.
"Coming out of Japan"

Nothing cheap coming from there. Especially licensed resin.
Same reason a 4" tall Godzilla kit costs $150.

As noted by another poster: from Japan. But realistically, for a good sculpt, that much resin, shipping, and possibly a licensed sculpt (or even if not) that's a 'fair' price. Not necessarily an affordable one, but here in the U.S. we've been lucky with the price/performance ratio we've been getting for some time now. Good art costs.

It's tempting to me. But a lot of money. If I got it I'd want to redo the base to including the little building.

Well, don’t kill the messenger. LOL.

To answer the question in all seriousness. You would need to talk to Murakami, the sculptor. Daimos, the company. My friend who acquires these kits for me. And the Japanese Postal Service.

My job is to just offer the product. I pass no judgement on what an artist feels is a fair price for his or her art work. Or what he chooses to charge for it.

Hey, I’d like to drive an Aston Martin. But I can’t afford one. I don’t complain about it. I just sigh and move on.

I checked with a friend who is also bringing a couple in.
Kit is actually not lienced.
30 or less will be made.
So in a few years the price for this kit could be double or more.
Prices like this from Japan are not that surprising.
The quality is usually superior and flawless.

Did this kit ever happen? This is the only time I remember seeing anything about it.
