New Member/Digital Sculptor - Some of my work (Pic heavy!)

#1 Post by Ralph_Sutter »

Hi guys!

Paul Gill was kind enough to introduce me to this forum! I am a digital sculptor with a background in sculpting digital characters for film, games and the collectible industry. But now I am looking to produce some of my own kits (with Paul).

Here are some current WIP images! :) I am currently working on a Clint Eastwood as the Man with No Name/Blondie kit. Here are some WIP images (ignore the missing hand in some of them...lol):

I am also working on a Michael Myers kit.

More info on the above two soon!

Here are some older images:

More can be seen on my site (link in signature). Also, please excuse the silly Photobucket watermarks :P
Thanks for looking!

Best,
Ralph

Really nice work! ZBrush? What do you use for your renders?

Thanks so much, Zeiram! Yes, Zbrush :) Most of these renders were either rendered in KeyShot or 3ds MAX.

Cool. I need to break down and get Keyshot one of these days. My quickie ZBrush renders kind of suck.

KeyShot is really amazing! Definitely get it the KeyShot to Zbrush Bridge to. Not having to manually export as anything is amazing!

Welcome Ralph - Quick question for you: do you take commissions for 1/6 scale resin heads? I have wanted to get a resin head made for a particular old-time actor-singer that could be put together with a 1/6 scale action figure body. Its for my personal use - and maybe for a few friends with a similar old-time music/movie interest. No commercial value to speak of as a kit, in 2019. Sadly.

When I first asked someone about 13 years ago, the only way to do it was hand-sculpting, which was crazy expensive when all you want is one head.

Then, the digital-sculpting revolution came along. Since then I've asked a few folks, but everyone's always too busy.

So - Now I'm asking you  (I have no idea the amount of time this takes, but it would be for just one head, to be printed in 1/6 scale).

You can PM me if you have any details to share.

BTW, "Blondie", are yoou the same fellow who recently sculpted busts for the "Good, Bad and Ugly"? I saw photos of those 3 on Facebook recently, and your sculpt reminds me of Clint's bust ....

Hey Al,

Thanks for the warm welcome! As much as I'd like to take on commission work, I'm already super swamped with projects. Just released a kit, working on Blondie as nd Michael, also doing some freelance stuff for s big collectible studio, and I have a full-time job teaching Digital Sculpting at a college. So I'm very thin spread at the moment. When time frees up, I'll definitely reach out.

I'm not the person who did the Trio, I did see those :) This Blondie is a completely different piece :) My piece is a full character but I may offer him as a bust or full figure, still deciding.

I also animated him for fun :)

No problem Ralph, just thought I'd throw it out there ... no rush, but if some time does free up in the future, let me know ...

Welcome aboard Ralph :)

I'd seen your website when Anthony (kitator) shared your "Demonoid" piece here - http://theclubhouse1.net/phpBB3/viewtop ... 4&t=118445

Thought your work was amazing then - STILL think so now =D> :thumb2:

That "Blondie" is a PERFECT likeness Image Image

Good to hear that Paul will be helping you sell your stuff as kits - he's a humble & approachable type.

Good luck to you both!

Ian/Spike.
