Thanks for posting this Kev =D> =D> =D>

I'd never heard of Adam Savage - seems like a nice guy.

Every time there is a well thought out and polite explanation regarding recasting it helps - and THIS has reached a HUGE audience . . . look at the views - over 75,000 in 1 day

Does anyone know if Industria Mechanika are registered with eBay's VeRO program and have someone policing eBay?

Thanks Spike.
You know Adam, if you've ever seen Mythbusters TV show. He was 1/2 of that primary team. Now he's the lead guy on the site (and You Tube channel) Tested.
I really love his builds especially when he did the (I forget the scale) The Shining Maze. I want to build one!! ;)

I don't know much of what Mike F aka Fitchenfoo does. My extent of talking to him has just been buying a few of his kits.

It was done to the same scale as the one in the movie so I guess that would make it 1:1 right?? 8)

I've got to admit, I never heard of Adam Savage either. But hey, his heart's in the right place. And he was a more interesting video than most. Good screen personality. More interesting than some.

And I won't even make the obvious porn joke about his name. 8)

I haven't re-watched the video in quite a while so I'm a little foggy on details, but *I think* it was supposed to be the size of the one Jack looks at in the lobby of the hotel. Except there was a number of different variations. The model in the lobby is different from the one where the camera pulls back to show Wendy and Danny, from the one that's shown as a map out in front of the "real" one, Wendy and Danny walk thru which was just a few aisles of fake hedge... ;)

Edit - not to hijack my own thread but here's the build -

That was a great video! Thanks for posting it. It's very cool that the message is reaching a lot of people ...and hopefully it will reach a lot more!

Great video

Probably all of the negative votes and comments are from recasters.

Sadly I'd have to say no. While it was just about universally accepted here, I posted it on another forum, and they are still arguing about it over there. I kind of knew that would happen, having argued with them on the subject before. So it was me just stirring the pot, and they didn't let me down.
There are guys that just want what they want, and if it's a cheaper price all their better, they don't care where it comes from. :(

It is a process.
I remember when the subject would cause a huge stir here.

It takes long term and consistent education to make some people see the light.
Sure, there are some that never will, but a good majority will when they realize they are just hurting themselves if they don't support the original producers.
If you want to keep getting cool new stuff, you have to support those that create it, otherwise the new stuff will dry up.

Just like fake clothing ,jewelry, paintings, it's always been here copying
others ideas for hundreds and hundreds of years..
Some people get caught but, as I know people in art world
there will always be someone else willing to make quick buck.
Nostalgia can be a bad thing, especially when you are led by it.

Awesome! Used to love watching his old show with my kids. No surprise that he builds garage kits (and bigger stuff).
