Abe from OddWorld Mini Figurine - Now Painted

#1 Post by M-Flem-Jr »

Hey there everyone, it's been a little while since I've been to the clubhouse unfortunately... I miss this place and I really have met so many awesome folks here. Really sucks that life gets in the way sometimes. Anyway, here's a mini figurine I sculpted of Abe from the old Oddworld video game and was originally sculpted in Adam's CX5s wax. I hope you all like him. It was fun to play with the proportions.

Welcome back!
I'm not familiar with the game, but the character on his own is pretty cool. I like him.

Nice!

I tried the CX5 a while back but it just didn't fit my work habits. I thought it would be so cool to pour into armature blanks and rework on top, but I never got the time to invest in learning how to get the most out the dental waxer. Plus Beane scared me regarding Platinum cure silicone inhibitors and that's all I use so I didn't want to have to worry about keeping everything separate.
Plausible deniability.

Thank you sir! The character is a really neat design I've always liked his design. The game is really neat too the original two anyway and the remake were all really neat.

Thank you! CX5 and CX5s do have a large learning curve but as Adam points out there are several advantages even with Gary's wax or Ralph's wax. Lots to learn but worth it. I've been on and off again with it at times but I'm trying to stick with it right now. I rarely use a waxer honestly. As far as the platinum based silicons it has no effect on the material or the silicone. Nothing is inhibited. It says right on the package that it will not inhibit platinum based silicons. It's the only silicone I use now and have had no problems. Abe here was molded with platinum based silicone. I hope you give it a shot again soon!!

That's good to know, maybe he changed the formula a bit from the beginning on Kickstarter. I had a good amount of correspondence with him back then and it was he who cautioned against platinum. Tin was okay, but I haven't seen the new packaging, etc. I do have some left, but sold off my melter and most of the CX5 a while ago.
Plausible deniability.

Glad you put the ruler in the one picture. I did not realize how tiny the mini was. I loved all the Oddworld characters and you did Abe justice.

It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death.

I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.
