Just wondering about the Moebius Curse of the Werewolf

#1 Post by Todd P. »

Please don't take this is any kind of complaint -- I know that some people would approach this as an "I want it now, what's taking them so bleeping long?" kind of question -- but I'm wondering about Moebius's long-planned Curse of the Werewolf kit. Does anyone know where that project stands?

Kind of weird that I feel a need to pre-apologize, but that's how it goes with plastic kits. Some of us can be real babies about waiting. Did you see the vitriol flying over the new Monster Scenes releases? Me, I feel lucky that any new monsters are even in the works, given that they're not the biggest sellers in the world. I know that Moebius has a history of going ahead with kits that don't have huge market potential (Kogar, anyone?), but I won't blame the company if it decides it can't foot the huge bill for a plastic kit that won't make back the investment.

Thanks.

I don't know ? it's strange has been about 2 yrs since they announced it?
With a big company like Moebius a much bigger company than.
Monarch. I would think somebody would heard something about this kit?
I hope the Fly does not end in some kind of holding pattern too..

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall reading something online a few months ago about Moebius putting the Curse of the Werewolf kit "on the back burner" for a while because they had other kits in the works that they felt needed their immediate attention (and that would likely generate a higher profit, I'd guess). I'm looking forward to this one so I hope it doesn't get cancelled, but I suppose time will tell.
The older I get, the better it was.

They said at one of the Wonderfests that Wolfman and Werewolf kits aren't good sellers so I would think a kit of this would be a low priority on their list with all the other stuff they have coming out.

That's about what I figured. I think the Fly is at least at the prototype stage and I look forward to that one. I'll expect the werewolf when and if I see him.

I spoke to Frank Winspur about the COTW kit at Wonderfest. He said it's up to the artist, Mike Hill.

Curious (b/c wolfman kits are the ones I would buy), I looked at their site and there's no mention of a Wolfman kit anywhere that I can find. So I guess it's it's *REALLY* on the back burner.

Yep.
He said at WF this year that it is kind of on the back burner because they are waiting for the sculptor to have time to get to it. And if they are going to do it, they are going to do it right with the only sculptor they want doing the job.

And yes, Frank has said the werewolf kits are usually slow seller.
When PL did the reissues around the turn of the century, the wolf was the shelf warmer.
Same for the new sculpt PL put out.
Which is why he wants to try a Curse of kit to see if the spurs more interest.

I hadn't realized Mike was going to do it, that's great news! I'll wait very patiently and order two!
