Re: Space Girl .

Absolument superbe!

Tattoo is out of this world.   Free hand? and on a 1/6th piece? Wow! Just wow! Did you sketch it out first? How long did it take you to paint it?

Re: Randy Bowen's Jimmy Legs

Hello all, Thanks for taking the time to comment. @ Peter: I keep repeating myself but it IS an underrated piece. Maybe because it's somewhat smallish in scale? But it has attitude, nice details and textures. @ Jason: I appreciate that. I'm not one to go for "different" but this paint sche...

Re: Randy Bowen's Jimmy Legs

Hey all, Sorry for the delayed reply. Comments are very much appreciated. @ Susan: Thanks. Pix do not quite show the blueish hue of the skin but there has some nice highlights. The angle in one of the close up close-ups makes her look crossed eyed too. @ Lugnut: Thank you. Glad to contribute o...

Randy Bowen's Jimmy Legs

Hello all, 12 or so years in the making. One of the first kits I bought when I got into the hobby. Waited until I thought my painting skills could do this great piece justice. I'm getting there... Tried a "bi-color" scheme I hadn't seen on Bowen's creature before. I was actually really sur...

Re: Silly Putty / (not so) silly question

Glad someone revived this thread 'cause thanks to Peter, I'm gonna buy me some original Silly Putty. That 2-pack w/ Prime looks appealing... On the Wish List it goes. Don't know why I never thought of checking Amazon. Heck, I was on there just last night to look for (and buy) a bottle w/ a needle ti...

Re: Jimmy Legs --My Grail

Hello G,

Thank your for answering.

Gotcha on the added water. Well, your effect look just as good as his!

Thanks for the tip @ Duncan. I'll look them up. I really like how it comes out on Jimmy!

Re: Jimmy Legs --My Grail

Very very nice! Really like the color scheme you picked. Working (very sloooowwwly ) on mine right now. 2 questions: Did you (and Ron) add the trickle of water coming out of the sewer? It looks identical on both but I don't have one Did you glaze after basecoating? The shading on the wrinkles and cr...

Anime kit: Magical Girl Madoka Magica

Hello all, This was a first for me. My son belongs to an Anime Club and I offered to contribute a kit to the raffle they hold to raise funds. Very different from my usual fare but still a lot of fun (except for the part breakdown. This thing came in 30 parts!?! Makes no sense to me. In any case, thi...

It's Alive Project: Can you spot our members?

Hello all, One of the most successful part of "Son of Monsterpalooza" held this weekend in L.A., was the It's Alive Project exhibit. In a nutshell, 80 artists were given a blank life-size bust of Elsa Lanchester as the bride and were free to re-interpret the character. Some of our illustri...

Re: Need recommendations for a gloss coat...

Hello all,

Mark,

I use Future by Johnson & Johnson. I think they now sell it as "Pledge". I like how it flows. I usually put 3 to 4 coats. One is enough for the shine but I find the extra layers add a bit of depth.

Good luck!

Re: Arkham Asylum's Harley Quinn

Thanks all. @ Moonlight & Jason: Thank you. And now she resides on my son's dresser. He was a big fan of the game (and, as a 16-year old when he played it, he was particularly fond of Harley...) @ Prince: The handprint was a last minute thing because the blood splatter I had done was crappy. (I ...

Re: Thanos / Killing Time Kits / Gabe Perna

Thanks guys! @Jason: Well thank you for that! Now that's all I think about when I see him in the display case. ; ). @ Splake: Thank you. The shading took a little while because of how Gabe sculpted the creases and folds. But that's his inimitable style! @ John: Agreed. The pose, the well-proportione...

Thank you all for taking the time to post your (nice) comments. @Vger: Yeah. I think "Subtle" is my middle name. Which often doesn't show well in pictures (or at least the way I take pictures). @ Geoff M: Hope you do get it. Can't wait to see what you'll do with this one + looking forward ...

Re: Monsterpalooza photos up for viewing / link inside

Well that sucks! @ Shane: I saw the Ghouligan's booth but didn't spend much time in that part of the hotel. @ Rick: I did stop by Scott's table to take a few pictures. (and I thought Phil S. would be there since that's where he was hanging out the last couple of years I saw him @ the show). I hope y...

Thanos / Killing Time Kits / Gabe Perna

Hey all, Last upload for a while. I have to build/paint more stuff. Another Gabe Perna piece. Love his style. The base is very plain looking. Tried different paint schemes using the colors of the infinity gems but it looked garish every time. http://i56.servimg.com/u/f56/14/81/89/81/img_0438.jpg htt...

Re: The Shadow

@ N.O. Very nice paint job too! And looking at it, I now feel I should have turned the base 180 to have the manhole cover on the other side. I like his eyes. Maybe it's the arched eyebrows but your Shadow looks more P.O.ed, more menacing than my rendition. @ Lugnut. Thank you. I hear you. I usually ...
