Re: Anatomy of a GRAIL HAUL! (Wanna See???)

Another package from yahoo.jp, smaller this time. The "stragglers" from the recent "Japan Buying Spree" now trickle in. Not "Grail kits" per se, but - reissues of two of Kaiyodo's EPIC 1990s"Dinoland 1:18 vinyl dino-line. (I already had these - the Camarasaurus is ...

I always wait until painting is pretty much done before adding a glass eye so that I do not get paint on the eye.

Re: My attempt to inventory my collection.

I counted this AM, and when I included all of the the 40 or so separately boxed after-market deck guns of all calibers for my giant unfinished Yamato Battleship - I am over 100 un-built kits/bashes!!! Edit: Make that about 125! (Depending on how you count bash-pieces - as 1 or 2 kits) :hot: :alcohol...

That's brilliant Jeff! Best Aurora dio I've seen! 🤩

The Sleestak fits in perfectly! Did they make any of the human characters I wonder? 🤔 That would be a really nice add-on! 💥⚡🤩

I had the exact same thought as Joe on the stripes, but I don't think they necessarily need to disappear. If you keep them, I suggest making them more irregular in shape. As to colors, I'm just a rank amateur (and at the risk of stating the obvious), but it seems like the stripes and mottling need ...

I agree the stripes are to uniform. You need to vary the widths and the heights. Make some skinny ones, some shorter ones. Slant them in various directions, etc. Make them look more organic. I do think varying the skin color a bit would help as well, before adding the stripes back in. I would compl...

Re: IT. IS. GOING. TO. HAPPEN. NO. JOKE. AND. IT. IS. HUMUNGOUS.

I would go with taking that blue gray body color and either making a much lighter or darker hue and use that for the stripes .but then I tend to be too monochromatic in my painting. Do not make the stripes so “solid”. Let the base color break through in spots and steaks within the stripes. But hey ...

Ok, since you asked . The stripes do not look organic or realistic . They are too uniform . Look like stickers . I don’t like the colors but we have always different tastes in color pallets . But don’t let my opinion any others make you change. Paint it how you like it, not how others like it! Than...
