ManInJapan - Good to hear from you again good sir and to see that you are well! I had wondered why you stopped posting as I thoroughly enjoyed our exchanges (and your poetry that you shared). :thumb2: Don't be a stranger - we'd love to see some of your kit builds - in progress threads are a great w...

Re: Opinions on Dencomm Cat and Rabbit - essential add-ons?

I have them, but have not built them yet. I think they are kinda cool, but then again, I got them cheap when they were getting cleared out (like less than $10 each) Many thanks for weighing in there Trevor! Price is another element that's putting me off as it would cost me over $50 for the two kits...

Opinions on Dencomm Cat and Rabbit - essential add-ons?

Hi All, Wishing everyone a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2026. I'm a Brit monster kid, vintage 1963. That means I came to the original Aurora monster kits a generation late (all I remember are the square box, 'glow in the dark' reissues) and the sole Monster Scene to ever make it to my local toy ...

WAY too young. Sounded like a fantastic human being.
My deepest condolences to his family.

Why no styrene Icarus/Liberty1?

Just asking. There have been several resin kits of the iconic spaceship from Planet of the Apes but none in injection plastic.
Is it cost or copyright or both?

Re: FRITZ'S PAINTING GUIDE [UPDATED]

Hi Steve, Me again. 😊 I recently came across a publicity photo I hadn't seen before of Lugosi in the 1927 stage production of Dracula. It shows his necessarily overly dramatic makeup in great detail and so I thought it might be helpful for modellers with the Moebius kit who want to duplicate Lugosi'...

I'm always looking for the excellent 1:8 Bela Lugosi head sculpt with photo-etched brass medallion from the late, lamented Tom Parker's Cult of Personality.
(Escape Hatch Hobbies don't have the moulds.)

Re: A poem ("oh no", you groan)

Boy, that really hit home. Truth there. As a BIG fan of all things Japanese, I am curious about so many things regarding "how you got there". Do you speak the language? (A must in order to truly be able to appreciate any different culture and people. Language is where "the culture li...

tay666 wrote: ↑July 17th, 2024, 11:52 pm First one is legit, 2nd one is definitely a resin recast. The parts are solid, not hollow.
I got burned on a giant insect kit several months ago. Blurry pics and didn't notice it was resin, not plastic.
That sucks - especially with all the clear parts on that kit!

Re: Unboxed/reboxed original Aurora Vampirella kits turning up in Japan

I found another one in Japan - again same MO, no box, etc - shown below.. https://i.postimg.cc/yDrm8pbj/IMG-3450.jpg But then I saw this on eBay Canada; someone, somewhere is definitely pumping these out. Just look at all the flash on this moulding - no way is it original Aurora 1971, as shown on th...

Re: RIP Lemmy

I used to work in Kensington High Street, West London for many years and often popped into the oldest pub in the area, 'The Goat Tavern'. One lunchtime, I got chatting with a guy playing the fruit machine - possibly because we we the only two punters with long hair. We had a few beers together and h...

:thumb2: I remember this series well, particularly the ladies in it!, πŸ‘€πŸ˜ I don't remember if it was ever determined what the aliens wanted with the earth, or if there was any direct communication with them. As far as I remember they're always mysterious, though of course human-like. Beautiful build...

A poem ("oh no", you groan)

I went through a poetry writing phase several years ago. I even sometimes stood on a stage and read aloud. First, it was all highly personalised, subjective anger, sarcasm and bitterness - a cathartic vent for the mounting frustration I felt in my own life ..... my job, my home life, my daily cultur...

Re: FRITZ'S PAINTING GUIDE

Thank you for your invaluable contributions to this thread Simon! That photo of Lugosi is "Boffo" to use contemporary slang that he would have been familiar with! 😁 Spectacular even! Very interesting the different colors of the two movie cloaks, which of course had to be made in a way tha...
