Thank you for that tip! I'm going to check those out!Rocketeer wrote:Rather than pastels, something like Tamiya Weathering Master might be better. TWM is like a pastel, but has some kind of binding agent, so you don't have to worry about it falling off.

Re: Shadows on stripes?
Thank you for the replies!! I can do some experiments with a black wash/glaze on something else and see if I like it. I will have to make it very thin I guess. As I do tend to go too far and make things way too dark. I have tried pastels for shading. I considered it, but it's so cold out now I think...

Shadows on stripes?
Hello, I am painting Kent Kidwell's fantastic Blackbeard kit. It's going well so far! This is my first time painting stripes, he has striped pants. I used Reaper Ritterlich Blue and Soft Blue, with a pinstripe in Clear Red. Now I want to shade the pants but not sure what colors to use. Should I add ...

Sorry about that. I should have verified before I posted from the Want-A-Fest FB group. The original link is indeed dead. But here's the correct link (which I just viewed) from James Wappel's feed: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/645172134?filter=all&sort=time Thank you! It helps some, that's grea...

Help painting light reflecting off of moving water?
Hello everybody, I haven't been here in quite a while. I hope we're all doing as well as possible in this crazy time. I'm hoping to get some help from you talented painters! I'm trying to paint a statue scene with a boat at night that has an old fashioned candle-lit lantern hanging from the very fro...

Re: Question about 3D print results
You can use epoxy putty or gesso. Smooth on sells a finishing product, which is basically resin you sponge brush on, but it tends to obliterate detail. Thanks for the replies! I'm interested in the Smooth On stuff but I can't find it at their site, I dont really know what I'm looking for, lol. Do y...

Re: Question about 3D print results
Is there a filler to use, or some other way to get rid of the lines besides sanding them?

Question about 3D print results
Hello everybody, I recently purchased a 3D bust from someone on Etsy. I have no experience with working with a 3D kit. This one is super light weight and the seller told me it's made of tianse PLA. It's covered with very fine lines/ridges which makes it look pretty bad. I can't paint it with those l...

Jubilation Lee sculpted by Pat Moorea
Hello all! Here is Jubilee, a great kit from Patmoorea. She was really fun to paint! I added a bit of hair to her head and trimmed her coat tail some. I wanted to show some of her Chinese heritage, so I put together that column (it was the 3 short columns and a round candle holder which became the c...

I don't have a hot glue gun. Something I've been wanting to buy but never did. Looks like I'm going to do a little shopping today! Thanks you guys, for all the ideas! Much appreciated!
