Re: Who found Nosferatu?

I haven't seen the others referenced, but I have seen Kino's and found it stunning. Of course, that's compared with the public-domain copies... I agree. I have Kino's DVD version and, unless you're really insistent on Blu-Ray quality, it's far cleaner and more watchable than every other version I'v...

Re: Which Mr. Hyde?

I like both, but I have to go with the 1931 version with Fredric March because I agree with Derek's comments above. March's performance under Wally Westmore's makeup really transforms Jekyll into a different person, a creature who is completely free of the "restraints" of society and acts ...

Re: Penny Dreadful

I'm sorry to see it go. I'm probably one of the few that thought almost every character in the show was more interesting than the Vanessa Ives character. Don't get me wrong, Eva Green did a great job. I just never liked the character very much. I would have liked to see what the show might have bec...

Re: Star trek discovery

What did you think? because i really think it looks part klingon. It's clearly based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept art from 1976-77 for a Star Trek movie that never happened, right down to the space dock built inside of an asteroid. I don't care for it myself; it looks even more awkward and imbalanc...

Re: Star trek discovery

Anybody see the clip for the new show, ship looks like a Klingon ship had a baby with the enterprise. Oops forgot to put link. https://youtu.be/bqm9HSYbf0o Opinions about the ship are very mixed; some like it, most don't. That said, someone on the production staff said this wasn't much more ...

Re: Bandai BB-8 WIP

Part fit was certainly tight. I rarely used any glue. I was afraid to test for anything bc the fot was tight prior to painting like you said...I didn't want to end up breaking something taking it back apart. That being said, it didn't add so much that I felt it was too tight. The parts were certain...

Re: Bandai BB-8 WIP

...So the plastic is molded in the exact colors it needs to be, but I don't recommend building it unpainted. It still looks like plastic. The GOOD news is that you can segment all the parts and paint them without any masking or worry... Did you encounter any problems with the parts fitting together...

Re: Original SW Restored... but what's the big deal on this?

The main issue at hand is rights issues. Despite Disney "owning" Star Wars now, they only own the concept of Star Wars. So they own the story, characters, designs, dialogue, etc etc. What they don't own are the original physical films. So while they could make whatever they want with char...

Re: Doctor Who Season 9 Thread

You guys know Moffat's leaving. Yes. But no one knows if Capaldi will stay on after that. Most of us are hoping he will, especially because it seems like Moffat hasn't really given him much to work with so far. A lot of so-so scripts, and more of the focus has seemed to be on Clara instead of The D...

Re: Mobius Riddler preview art

Took a quick look all only one line mentions the costume :: 3. Riddler had two costumes. One was the suit with bowler hat, the other pictured above. The picture was the tights. He was only in one season. John Astin replaced him in the second. This isn't quite accurate. John Astin did replace Frank ...

Maybe, maybe not. I've read recently that the licensor still has issues with the Robin sculpt and hasn't approved it for production.

Re: So, what cool styrene have you scored lately?

I got a Superior Plastics kit of the Taj Mahal. That seems to be an unusual subject for a styrene kit, but a great find if you're interested in it. I wonder if it sold well enough for Superior Plastics to recover their production costs. I have no idea. But the old Statue of Liberty kit, which I bel...

Re: tarzan

Having read all of Burroughs' Tarzan novels, the plot summary doesn't sound familiar so I'm guessing it's another "original" story. Also, it seems this takes place after he's grown and has returned to England, which would explain why he's wearing pants instead of a loincloth, but they'll p...

Re: Lifesize Aurora Wolfman

I read or heard somewhere that Universal will be bringing back the old monsters as we remember them in new movies... I remember reading an article in the Los Angeles Times just before Van Helsing was released in 2004 that it was supposed to be the spearhead for a reboot of Universal's classic horro...

Interested pending price.

But seriously, I've been fortunate to have seen some of Mike Hill's work in person and his finished pieces are so lifelike that you expect them to blink, or move, or start talking.

Re: So, what cool styrene have you scored lately?

Over the last couple of months I've picked up some of Bandai's new Star Wars kits--1/48 AT-ST, 1/12 C-3PO, 1/12 R2-D2/R5D4 combo, 1/12 Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike, 1/12 Boba Fett, and 1/144 Millennium Falcon from the upcoming The Force Awakens . Not surprisingly, Fine Molds' 1/144 Falcon is sligh...

Re: No Mention of Jimmy Olsen ?

I was sad to hear this. He seemed like a real good guy. Still the best Jimmy Olsen ever!!! Although his acting career suffered after The Adventures of Superman , he seemed to have a decent sense of humor about it. Years ago I read an interview with Alice Cooper in which he mentioned meeting Jack La...
