Re: Digitally created model kits. How do they work?
I have preordered what will probably be the biggest printer I get, at least for a while. Sonic Mega 8K. It's a whopper and the price, comparatively, is a steal. But I won't have it until at least August. Now waiting for EPAX's E10 5K upgrade package. Congrats! Yes, prices are coming down significan...

Re: Digitally created model kits. How do they work?
All I can say about Digitally created kits is that I haven't been impressed with what I have seen of them, they look to generic, and like a snowman in a crowd of people they are easy to pick out, for me I'll stick with the traditionally sculpted kit done by the actual artist, you just don't get the...

Re: Casts vs prints
With FDM prints, you will get layer lines. Optimisation with FDM means making layer heights as small as possible = VERY long print times. However, Resin printers are a whole different ball game. Most come with a standard resolution(layer height) of 50 microns at the very least. Bear in mind that the...

Re: TOMPS silicone rubber
I use DWR plastics silicone - its the cheapest I''ve found and is very good quality. 6.18 kg is about £62 It's A28 shore, so not as soft as the TOMPS and Tiranti, but I've found it works well for all what I've needed it to do: http://www.dwrplastics.com/product-information/5387c74d64a0a/RTV-Silicone...

Custom Light Up Infinity Gauntlet
Hello everyone! :D I was commissioned to make this for the XM Studios Thanos pre-painted statue. Sculpt in progress: I deviated from the XM design. My thought was that this was an ancient artifact, not a part of Thanos' regular costume, so I designed it accordingly... http://i307.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: Painting Translucent Resin and transparent colors
My experience is that transparent resin paints just like regular resin. Here's a clear resin cast of my Ice giant bust: http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn317/riteguytu/DSCF3508_zps269c2a19.jpg And here it is primed with clear lacquer sealer and painted up with Golden transparent airbrush acrylics...
