And so it begins - a restoration of a 1966 Aurora Hulk.
I had to replace a few parts with a Comic Scenes kit (smoke, steel beam, shock wave).

Just don't paint the smoke orange because they'll look like Cheetos.

The Cheetos! But really this is the kinda stuff I really enjoy following! Restoring old glue-bombs!
If you don't mind me sharing your thread, earlier this year I scored two Hulk bases from the estate of Andy Yanchus. One original and the other the 74 re-pop.They were both altered. I don't know if Andy himself or someone else did it but I consider it cool to own!

I haven't done anything with either yet But I will always wonder what the inspo and final result would have been.....
Keep posting!

I wonder if he planned on making his own rock formations or was planning to make one of the bases - the original - into a flatter, barren scene.

It took a couple of days to get the arms reattached.
I first glued them to the torso, holding them in place firmly while the glue welded them to the torso.
Then I patched with Aves and smoothed it out with a sculpting tool, and then with my finger and some safety solvent, and then with an old paint brush dipped in safety solvent.
Even though it looked smooth, once I shot it with primer I could see it needed sanding and then some more filling, this time with modeling paste, more sanding and priming, etc.
After a few go-rounds I finally got something I could live with.
The base has been blocked in with desert tones but there's still a lot of work to do.

It's been a couple of weeks since I last updated this project.
It's been too hot lately to paint and I was working on a 'How-To' video (see my Garage post).
But over the past two days I finally got the base 99 per cent finished (just some minor puttying and painting around the smoke clouds to do).
The figure of the Hulk is all that remains.
FYI, in my imagination the shock wave is caused by some sort of energy weapon...
I also saw the name plate as an opportunity to reflect the Banner/Hulk transformation like the cover of Incredible Hulk #102 that re-launched the character in it's own book.
