“Steve, get that plane down!”

“I can’t Oscar, she’s breaking up on me.”

“Steve Austin, astronaut. A man barely alive.”

“Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better... stronger... faster.”

The Six Million Dollar Man! Ran for 5 seasons starting in 1974. I can still hear the quotes above and the sound effects. To this day, my brothers and I use “a man barely alive” to describe people we don’t like. Probably the best thing about the show was that it spawned The Bionic Woman!

As to the kit, well, it’s pretty ridiculous. Not unlike the show come to think of it. All styrene, snap fit and probably 1/12 scale. Luckily the box had a comic strip on the side that explains the scene.

I can’t recall if this was actually a scene for the show or not.

Steve’s face is horribly bloated; luckily it’s not too easy to see the face once displayed. The kit has removable arm and leg sections that reveal the bionic components. I wonder how many of these kits met their demise by M-80? The kit fairly begs for it, I’m tempted now.

I don’t recall seeing this kit when it was released in 1974 and just ran across this one recently. I had to laugh when I saw it was put out by the General Mills Fun Group, no doubt a fun group indeed. They also put out a few other Six Million Dollar Man kits and a few Bionic Woman kits. Ah, the good ol’ days......

Oh, and feel free to use this kit on the WF flyer. :rolf:

Well there's something you don't see every day!!! I used to watch that show every single week - LOVED it!!! The shortcomings of the kit aside - you did a wonderful job building "Steve" up!!

Proper!!! And what an action pose!!! :alcoholic: =D> =D> =D> :geek :thumb2: :thumb: :jam:

Now there's a real blast from the past! I fondly remember these kits but never owned any. Great job! :smokin:

Cool piece of history.
I've had a few of the kits pass through my hands over the years. Usually when buying part's lots.
I remember there being one with a motorcycle, and another with an alligator. I kept that base and the alligator, but got rid of the rest.

You did an admirable job on a not-so-fine bit of styrene.
That is what most of us styrene guys strive for. Most of the old kits will never be show-pieces, but they are great reminders of a simpler time.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I can't look at this kit without laughing and it just doesn't get any better than that.

That is the perfect attitude to have with some of these models!
