Mighty Joe Young vs. Primo!

#1 Post by Tim Casey »

Here's an old garage kit I know nothing about:

I picked it up on the "swap and sell" board a few months ago. It's from "Bizarro Productions", but that's all I know.
I figure it must be an older garage kit - the casting was terrible, and it only came with a quick xerox picture.
Well worth the effort, though - I love Joe!

If anyone knows more about this kit, please let me know and I'll update the page on my website.

More pics can be found here, including a 3D picture:

Enjoy!

Great expression on Joe's face! You got a great kit there Tim. First I've seen it.

What an unusual concept.
Well done though.

Yeah the wrestle is pretty bad too bad you can't find better figure for that kit?
Nostalgia can be a bad thing, especially when you are led by it.

Actually, the guy looks pretty messed up in the movie as well. It's a pretty good likeness...

If you had a problem prepping this you can't tell from the finished product. Nice work, I really need to watch this one of these days.

Oh, man - definitely! A nice take on a Kong-like story. Robert Armstrong fills the same role he did in "Kong", but with a different name, and much more humor. The film never slows down, and even kids can get transfixed by it.

The restored version on Blu Ray (and I think DVD as well) has some tinted scenes during a fire scene, but if you've never seen the film, I can say no more.... 8)

I won an auction on ebay for this built up kit about 3 years ago. I never saw it before or even heard about it. I found out it is from Bizarre kits (possibly Bizarro). I have no more info. I believe Jon Legrand built one and is on his facebook page. You may want to message him to see if he has more info on it.

Boy, are you asking the wrong guy to get on Facebook..... ... I can say no more......

There was a xeroxed slip of paper in the kit that said "Bizarro" on it, so at least I know that much. Fun kit!
