Mucho thanks one and all!
Right then, flame ring cast pieces came out okedoke.
Thread pics!!
Mould cured, sculpey pieces removed with a smidgen of breakage happening but no big deal as they have served their purpose.
Ordinary resin casts taken to make sure the moulds are squeaky clean and ready for the clear stuff, they came out with no breakage so all good on the removal thing.
Mould, sculpey stuff top left, resin casts top right.
Clear urethane resin in and after the requisite curing time...
Sorted!! Nice matt finish to the outside, inside crystal clear which should help with the lighting thing.
And shoved on the base to get a little idea of how they will look.
And that's quite enough faffing about for one day methinks!
Go easy out there you merry mob.

Update:
Page 10, Flame Ring Build, Lighting And Video.
http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/wipgr10.html
Some of this i've already posted pics to but additional malarkey on the page and here's the edited highlights so to speak...
Lighting setup and basic test out.
Clear yellow, orange and red airbrushed on.
And all powered up.
Much tweaking and fiddling about still to be done but the bulk of this is now sorted. Just a reworking of the head and flames to do, to cure a long standing slight annoyance but it's all in the works.
That's the lot for now gang, enjoy!

FANTASTIC!
The clear resin flames came out so well, yet I see no gates or air channels in your mold...Did you pressure cast?
What type of clear resin did you use?
Thanks!

Thanks folks!
Riteguy, nope, didn't pressure cast. The clear resin is done by Polycaft and here's the page link:
http://www.mbfg.co.uk/liquid-plastics/fc-6600.html
They recommend it's best used at between 20 to 25C and not to use condensation cure RTV moulds.
This is where a bit of addition cure RTV came in handy on this occasion.
The none to technically put process I went through is as follows:
Warmed the resin and moulds to temp, actually warmed the resin to a bit more than 25C.
Mixed the appropriate amount which in this case was about 650gms or about 1lb or thereabouts.
Shoved that in the vac chamber and degassed the living daylights out of it.
Poured about 3/4 in to the mould and slopped it about, degassed again.
Slowly poured the rest in, gave it a several times look over mit der mark 1 eyeball to make sure I got it all and then just left the hell alone.
Moulds sat atop of my little sculpey baking oven to maintain some warmth and seven hours later, we had a winner.
Not saying that's the most perfect way to do it and I feel that some of the real casting pros out there may wince at the above description but all I can say is, well you've seen the pics so it worked out pretty well methinks.
That's most of the sordid tale and hope the above info clarifies things a bit...though I suspect not considering who typed it
Take care all!

It would seem that the next update will include a little bit of me (sort of).
I'm gonna be hugging kittens when the finished piece is in-transit to me

Indeedly Brother Spike!
Right then, update time. Page 11, Lava Base Work, Chain, Billets, Dress Rehearsal and Brass Plaque.
http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/wipgr11.html
And the thread pics methinks...
Rock and lava base to fit the inside of the flame ring.
Lava seemed to flat to the main man, so some epoxy and clear resin to give that bubbly/rippling lava feel.
Lightsheet and LED backlighting also involved.
Chain that will wrap around the flame headed one got billets attached at each end with requested text.
Dress rehearsal.
Phohetch brass plaque for the base.
Same with a bit of dark wash and polishing.
More to get done but certainly getting there. Head flames will get cast soonest then the figure will be back together, then comes the base finishing up and the all important final assembly.
Take care out there all!
