Wasn't that a bit expensive for the 70's?

My first concert was '83 and that was $12.50
In 88 I saw 5 bands at 3 Rivers Stadium for $25 (and I thought that was expensive ).

70's ticket prices were the best. I remember seeing Kiss for $4.50. Nugent, Rush, Johnny and Edgar Winter, all the shows were 5-6 bucks. Usually with at least 2 good name bands. I remember seeing Black Sabbath in '79 for I think $9 and thinking that was outragous. Now the handling charge is that much. The outdoor venue we have here was $4 lawn seats back then. We use to go to shows we didn't even care about seeing just for something to do. I do miss the 70's, even though most of it was a blur.

I gotta say of the tours I've seen Alice- Special Forces, Raise Your Fist, Trash, Brutal Planet, The Decent Into Dragontown, One more in between here ?,and The Psycho Drama Tour, the best was by far The Brutal Planet tour. Great band, great songs (of course) and the total package as far as a stage show. Brutal Planet is also a great CD if you ask me. Great songs with a fairly morbid theme. If you don't have it and your an Alice fan, you won't be dissapointed with it. Brutal Planet is also on DVD. Some stuff can be seen on youtube. Sorry to make this an Alice thread, back to regularly scheduled thread.

Gotta be Alice Cooper's "Lace and Whiskey Tour"...believe it was 1977, maybe 1978.

Been so long since then I don't recall the exact set list for RYF&Y, Trev, but the one John posted sounds about right for it.

Tours I saw him on were:

Special Forces
1980 or 81--If I remember correctly, it was his first time back in Pittsburgh after he vowed never to come again after someone threw a bottle on stage back in the 70's. No make up this time around.

Constrictor
First time I saw him with the makeup on.

Raise Your Fist & Yell
Only time he did Dead Babies when I was there.

Trash
Best sounding of the concerts til then--the band seemed to know the songs better. Only time I remember seeing him do Gutter Cats vs. the Jets live.

Unknown name for the tour
It should have been for The Last Temptation but he didn't do a single song from the album--I figured it probably had something to do with who had the rights at the time since that was when the 3 comic miniseries came out (I think it was Marvel that put them out. Have them upstairs somewhere.) Alice was the opening act this time, at least here in Pittsburgh. Scorpions headlined. We were center stage, 4 rows back.) Only time I've seen him do Desperado live.

Rock & Roll Carnival tour
This was the real Last Temptation tour.

The Eyes of Alice Cooper tour
My wife and I took our grandson to see this one. It was his first concert. We all had a ball! It was the only time I've seen him do Halo of Flies live.

steve, i just recently scored the DVD for "eyes of alice"

John, I really like that one (Eyes). Has a garage band feel to it, like the older albums used to.

One thing has me a bit curious, too.

Listen to the lyrics to the song "The Song That Didn't Rhyme" and think back on all the drama and critics reviews of Alice's early stuff that went on over the years (especially what the non-rock general public used to think of him and his music) and see if that song doesn't sound almost like a sort of tribute to Alice's career over the years.

Constrictor was a great concert. So good to see the old Alice back again. I loved at the end of Teenage Frankenstein when he kicked over the monster and there was nobody inside of it! Always thought that going to an Alice concert was like a cross between a rock show, a magic act and a fun low budget horror flick.

i'll go kiss re uniuon tour or hot in shade with sphinx head but then again could be the sonic boom show this wednesday night .
one sticks in mind though,maybe most not heard them. dogs damour home town gig for dynamite jet saloon.

The Who - December 6 1975 at Pontiac Silverdome Stadium, Pontiac Michigan.... Most incredible concert I've ever been to! Sat
at an angle to the stage off to the right about 8 rows up from the floor.

If you want a taste of what that performance was like it's imortalized in part on film as "Join Together"/"Road Runner"/"My
Generation Blues" in "The Kid's are Alright" the extremely well done Who Documentary film... Rent the DVD and check it out
if you have the chance.

Runner Up:

The J Geils Band at Chrysler Arena, Ann Arbor, Michigan... winter of 1974. Tour was right after the
released "Nightmares...and Other Tales from the Vinyl Jungle". Holy Crap did these guys put on one helluva' show!
